Service by Ed

Hello everybody. This is your highly quirky Service Chair here. I'm hoping that we are all ready for a great semester of service. Last year went great with many chapters having excellent rushes and service programs and I am looking forward to seeing nothing but the same.

One project that will make history in APO and will be an excellent opportunity to assist brothers from the Philippines in their programs of service will be the *drum roll please* International Service Project. We are asking chapters to collect children's books and bring them to the Region I/II conference in Syracuse so that brothers from APO Philippines can bring them back and distribute them to worthwhile causes. Brothers may donate their old books, hold charity book collection drives, or even collect money for the purchase of books. Use your imagination and make the most of this opportunity (incidentally, the book collection may be used as a National Service Week project). There is also rumor of a competition at Regionals for the chapters that collect the most books, so don't hesitate to start as soon as you can. If your chapter is unable to send any representatives to Regionals, you can feel free to contact me and we will work something out so you can participate.

Next thing on my mind is a Section Service Project. I would love to see us have one in the fall AND in the spring. For those who aren't familiar with this, a Section Service Project is simply a service project that is advertised and such that brothers from all over the section (and beyond!) can attend. It sounds like a big deal but it really isn't at all (I'll be here to help and be a human pincushion when needed). I am asking that any chapter that has an interest in hosting a Section Service Project please contact me and let me know that you're interested so we can get the ball rolling nice and early.

Lastly, if at any time anyone needs help with their service programs or anything relating to service, feel free to contact me!
