A Message From the Section Chair!

Hello folks!

By now, all of us are well into the Fall 2004 semester. Some exciting events are coming up later this semester. Check elsewhere in this newsletter for details about some of them. There are also a lot of exciting things that have already happened at the Chapters, and some of those are also mentioned elsewhere in the newsletter.

By the time you're reading this, everyone has finished up recruiting new members and has begun the Pledging process. Developing a strong recruitment program is an essential part of maintaining the health of your Chapter. So, too, is retaining those people once they've been recruited. We've all heard the saying "No one gets left behind." If someone who is Pledging begins to fall behind in the program, someone in the Chapter should be there to help them catch up. If a Brother is talking about becoming inactive, someone should be there to ask them why, and to try to address whatever they may feel is pushing them away... or maybe to help them fulfill their requirements. And if no one else is doing these things, we must take it upon ourselves to be that someone.

Everyone who is willing to Serve humanity is welcome in Alpha Phi Omega. We don't pre-judge, on any basis. None of us is perfect. We have all at one time or another had to rely on others forgiving our imperfections. In Alpha Phi Omega, we strive to give everyone a worthwhile and welcoming experience. Make everyone feel that they truly are welcome.

Also, as you go through the semester, remember that my staff and I are here to help you. If there's something you need, or something you think would be a good thing for us to be doing, contact us! We listen, and we care about what you have to say.

In Leadership, Friendship, and Service,

Mike "Spreee" Haber
Section 88 Chair
