In Memory of Shawn

As I had mentioned last week Shawn worked for Cantor Fitzgerald at the WTC.

Shawn is missing and presumed dead. Shawn was the definition of APO. He was a friend that was there when you needed him. He was a leader and was always there to do some service.

Over the past week when watching different news stories Shawn was always at the front of my mind, he would have been the one who would have helped the pregnant women go ahead of him down the stairs or helped the ones that were injured. Shawn was always putting others before himself.

So for those of you that did not know him personally, I thought that I would share a couple of stories with you. The first thing that comes to mind is a snowy night in Albany, blieve it or not it does snow there... :) We had either just received our Charter or we were about to receive it and a couple of us got into Shawn's trick and headed over to Chapel House, Shawn all set to brace the cold winter night. You see we wanted to hold a ceremony at Chapel House, and being short on cash it was Shawn's idea to do a little community service and shovel the driveway...

Ever the mindful cook and roommate, the first night back for the 94-95 year Shawn had finished moving his things into the apartment, where Marty, Quack, Shawn, Ed (not in fraternity) and myself were living and he had a pasta dinner of some sort cooked for all of us... (Of course he burnt the brownies, though that may have been Prescott).

Shawn was a true leader, he took over the Presidential reigns while ADH was still in its infancy and he had some big shoes to fill. However, Shawn led in his own quiet way, he got things done and steered the chapter through some tough challenges. All of this while trying to be a full-time graduate student and a member of the Guilderland Volunteer Fire Deparment, (boy could that pager be annoying). In addition to all of these things Shawn was an Eagle Scout and spent many a summer working at a Boy Scout Camp in NY.

For those of you that have not had the honor or the pleasure of meeting Shawn, I am truly sad as you have missed out on meeting a great man. Shawn mas married to Jennifer and has a beautiful son Liam. Jennifer is expecting their second child at the end of January.

May Shawn always be a Leader, A Friend, and of Service.

With Brotherly Love,
Brett Robinson
